Looking out to sea from a headland — palms and the shoreline, the seascape ISOLABLEU keeps its eye on

About ISOLABLEU — Miyazaki, Japan

ISOLABLEU

Craft, rooted in the sea.

Small-batch making, from a life lived close to the sea.
Toward release-first sport fishing.

Hello.
Taking root in the sea.

We have worked in Italian apparel making since 2004,
and in the world of fishing tackle since 2012.
A wish to develop our goods within a life more deeply rooted in the sea —
that is where ISOLABLEU began.

“Since 2004 in Italian apparel, since 2012 in the fishing tackle world. ISOLABLEU was born from a wish to develop gear while living a life more deeply rooted in the sea.”

A path walked alongside the sea.

From apparel making in Italy, into the world of fishing tackle. And on, to making things within a life rooted in the sea. The road ISOLABLEU has travelled has always run beside the sea and the wild. Each encounter and each turn along the way has shaped the brand into what it is today.

Into Italian apparel OEM

We began planning, importing and selling OEM Italian apparel. For the decade that followed, we worked hand in hand with Italian makers, learning the feel of genuine materials and the work of skilled craftsmen. That experience remains the foundation of how we think about a product today.

Into the world of fishing tackle

Fishing, a passion of many years, became our work. From both the field and the product side, we came to be deeply involved in the culture of fishing.

A turning point — rethinking the way we live

The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to scale the business back, and changed not only our way of life but our relationship with fishing itself. It became a time to pause, and to look again at how we wanted to live, and to make things, from here on.

As ISOLABLEU

We had long wanted to develop our goods while living closer to the sea, and so ISOLABLEU was born. Based in Aoshima, Miyazaki, we work on that making ourselves — a little at a time.

ISOLABLEU founder Takaaki Toba — by the sea

Founder — Takaaki Toba

Based in Aoshima, Miyazaki, he gets out on the water and fishes himself, developing the goods a little at a time. Less flash, more essential tools you can keep for years. His aim is to give shape, in each product, to a sense of gratitude for the sea and the wild.

An angler fishing in the harbour of Naples, Italy — a life lived with the sea

From Italy, in small numbers.

PRATIKO is imported from Italy in small quantities. We want to bring this remarkable tool to more anglers here in Japan. It is the real thing — a tool we could only have come to know through years of working alongside Italian makers. Most of our items are made in small batches, but each one is delivered with care.

"With gratitude to the sea and the wild."

So that release-first sport fishing might take wider hold.
What we take from the sea, we return to the sea — that is the spirit we hold to.

Our Philosophy

Not flash, but essence. Not many, but a few.
Three values that grow out of a life lived with the sea.

01

Sea-Rooted Living

A life rooted in the sea

We live by the sea and get out on the water ourselves. What we learn in the field, day by day, goes straight into the product. We make things from within a life, not from behind a desk.

02

Small-Batch

Made in small batches

Most of our items are made in small batches. Not in quantity, but only what is truly good, in the amount that is needed. Careful making, with an eye kept on every single piece.

03

Catch & Release

Release-first fishing

With gratitude to the sea and the wild, we are devoted to advancing release-first sport fishing — so that a rich and living sea is carried on to the next generation.
